Training and Funding

Training

As Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes, most of the training is 'on the job' at your premises. Dependent on the type of Apprenticeship there may be a requirement for your apprentice to attend either Guildford College or Merrist Wood for day-release study. All apprentices will receive regular visits from an assessor who will be your main point of contact and will provide ongoing guidance to for your apprentice.

As an employer you must give your apprentices an induction into their role and provide on the job training. You are also responsible for paying your apprentices' wages – please see National Minimum Wage -  https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates

Services to Business will be able to support and guide you through the process. We will work with you to:

  • Help you decide upon the best suited Apprenticeship for your business
  • Explain how an apprentice can meet your business needs
  • Discuss what funding is available and the eligibility requirements
  • Outline the training to be provided to the apprentice.
